Grounds for Divorce: Establishing the Basis
The first step in the divorce process is determining the grounds for divorce, which vary by jurisdiction. There are generally two types:
- No-Fault Divorce: Here, the petitioner does not need to prove any fault on the part of their spouse. Grounds such as irreconcilable differences or incompatibility are sufficient.
- Fault-Based Divorce: In these cases, one must prove grounds such as adultery, cruelty, abandonment, or other legally specified reasons.
